The overview

What it is, and why it matters.

A well-planted bed is full of layers: tall grasses in back, round shrubs in the middle, groundcover in front. Lit properly, those layers glow at different depths and the whole bed looks richer. Lit badly, one bright spot washes out the plants and shows the fixture instead.

We light garden beds and shrubs for homes in Nashville and across Middle Tennessee. We use small, low fixtures with soft beams, place them within the beds so the light skims and glows through the plants and choose fixtures and heights that can be moved as the plants grow.

Why owners choose it

Four things done right.

Layered glow

Light at different heights shows the depth of the planting.

No hot spots

Soft beams and careful aim avoid bright blotches.

Adjustable as plants grow

Fixtures are placed so they can be raised or moved over time.

Season-aware

Evergreens and grasses keep the winter garden alive at night.

How it goes

From first call to garden bed and shrub lighting.

  1. 01

    Study the plantings

We look at the shapes, heights and colors in each bed.

  2. 02

    Choose fixtures

We choose small fixtures and beam widths that suit the plants.

  3. 03

    Place and hide

Fixtures go inside the bed and wire is hidden under mulch.

  4. 04

    Fine-tune

We aim and dim until the bed glows evenly.

Good questions

Garden Bed and Shrub Lighting: common questions

Will the plants outgrow the lights?

Plants grow, so fixtures may need to be raised or moved. We choose placements that make this easy and include checks in maintenance plans.

Does garden lighting use much electricity?

Low-voltage LED lighting uses very little power. Many small fixtures together use less than a single old floodlight.
