The overview

What it is, and why it matters.

Steps are where falls happen, and at night they are the hardest thing to see. The best step lighting lights the tread without glare, shows the edge clearly and does it from below or the side so shadows do not hide the drop. Done well, it also makes stone or brick steps look beautiful.

We install step and stair lighting for homes in Nashville and across Middle Tennessee, on stone, brick, concrete and wood steps, retaining walls with stairs, decks and porches. We use small LED fixtures set into risers, under tread nosings and into walls, wired in hidden channels.

Why owners choose it

Four things done right.

Edges you can see

Light on every tread makes the edge and depth clear.

No glare

Recessed fixtures keep light on the step and out of your eyes.

Hidden wiring

Wire runs in channels, so steps stay clean.

A beautiful detail

Lit risers make stone and brick glow.

Good questions

Step and Stair Lighting: common questions

Can step lights be added to existing steps?

Often yes. Sometimes fixtures can be added under nosings or to adjacent walls, and in some cases a small amount of cutting is needed. We look at the steps first.

Are step lights bright enough for safety?

Yes. They are meant to be soft and even, enough to show each edge. We check brightness at night.

How do I get a price for step and stair lighting?

  • A visit near dusk first: we walk the property, see where you use it and decide what deserves light and what should stay dark
  • A night demonstration on your own trees and walls, so you see the real brightness and color before you decide
  • A written plan and price with the fixtures, the controls, the wiring and the cleanup spelled out
