The overview

What it is, and why it matters.

Wall washing spreads light evenly across a surface from a fixture set some distance back. It makes walls look taller, brighter and calmer, and it gives the whole house a soft glow that reads from the street.

We install uplighting and wall washing for homes in Nashville and across Middle Tennessee, on brick, stone, stucco, siding and garden walls. We choose wide-beam fixtures, set them at the right distance from the wall and tune the spacing so pools of light overlap into a smooth wash.

Why owners choose it

Four things done right.

Even, not scalloped

Spacing and beam width are tuned so pools overlap into a smooth wash.

Height without glare

Light travels up the wall and away from windows and eyes.

Right strength

Dimming keeps the wash gentle and natural.

Fixtures that hide

Low fixtures hide in beds and behind shrubs.

Good questions

Uplighting and Wall Washing: common questions

What's the difference between washing and grazing?

Washing spreads light evenly from a distance and calms a surface. Grazing sets the fixture close to the wall so light skims along it and makes texture pop. We use each where it suits the material.

Will it light up my windows?

Not if it is aimed and shielded well. We keep light on the wall and out of the glass.
