Water and Hardscape

Light built into the stone itself.

Small fixtures set into seat walls, wall caps, stairs, columns and patios so the hardscape glows from within, with the lamp hidden and the light soft.

  • Fixtures: Small recessed and under-cap LED lights
  • Light: Low, warm and soft
  • Planning: Best planned with the hardscape builder

The overview

What it is, and why it matters.

Hardscape lighting sets small fixtures into the stone, brick or concrete: under cap stones, in the risers of steps, in seat walls and along patio edges. The light is low and soft, the fixtures are almost invisible and the result is outdoor living space that feels built to glow.

We install hardscape and wall cap lighting for homes in Nashville and across Middle Tennessee. We plan during construction when we can, so wire and fixtures are built in. For existing hardscape we find clean ways to add small fixtures with minimal cutting.

Why owners choose it

Four things done right.

Hidden light source

Fixtures vanish into the stone.

Soft and warm

Low light makes edges visible and patios feel inviting.

Planned with the builder

Wire is built in when the hardscape goes up.

Retrofits possible

Many existing walls and steps can take small fixtures.

Good questions

Hardscape and Wall Cap Lighting: common questions

Can I add lights to a finished patio wall?

Often yes, with small under-cap or surface fixtures. We look at the wall and explain what's possible and what might require cutting.

Is hardscape lighting bright enough?

It is meant to be soft and low, enough for safe edges and a glow. It works well with other layers for task light.
